Revalidation from April 2013
Revalidation was launched in December 2012 and we are now starting to see the first wave of GPs undertake this new process. 20% of all GPs will be revalidated in 2013-14. Those chosen to be in the first intake will be notified by their RO and the GMC. In the first year GPs will need at least one revalidation relevant appraisal with supporting evidence as set out on the GMC website.GPs are therefore advised to make sure they know:
- What the GMC requires – this is the bottom line and is all that is required to revalidate
- Who their RO is and where to contact them
- Who their GP appraisal lead is and how to contact them
- Who their appraiser is and when their next appraisal is due.
- That the appraisal co-ordinators and PL managers have their correct contact details.
We would also like to hear from you. Do you have any questions, queries or concerns? Please share these with us by email and we will do our best to answer these. Alternatively, you may find our FAQ on Revalidation has the answer to some of your queries.
